Acid Inhibitor & Fume suppresant:
The job that is required to be galvanized has to be cleaned and surface rust removed. To remove the surface scales rust or dust, it is always dipped in a caustic and/or acid bath. The main objective of acid cleaning is to remove rust but not the metal. With plain acid, the rust does get dissolved but the acid also penetrates the metal surface and we call it corrosion. To minimize corrosion, we need to use acid inhibitors. Acid inhibitor allows rust and scales to dissolve but is not so hard on the metal. This helps in reducing the use of acid and the accompanying problems with its usage.

Our combination Acid Inhibitor & Fume Suppressant allows the pickle tank to be run at a lower temperature, enough to remove rust and scales but prevents Iron from dissolving in to the tank. This helps in reducing the use of acid and the accompanying problems with its disposal. Our Acid inhibitor & Fume Suppressant can be used in any acid and for any surface like wire, pipe, rod, bar, sheet, sections or fabricated jobs. Operating at a lower temperature will not only save on utility costs but will also introducing lower amount of Iron in to the tank whereby reducing the amount of dross formed, thereby improving Zinc usage.

The Fume Suppressant part of the additive lets you keep your plant free from noxious acid fumes, improving HSE compliance.

Our inhibitor is used from 0.2 to 0.5% of the acid content.

Flux Enhancer:
Flux enhancer is designed to allow a better bond between the iron and zinc. Since it also reduces the amount of Iron introduced in to the flux tank, it will reduce dross formation.

By adding flux-enhancer, the concentration of flux can be reduced. Addition of flux enhancer will improve the adhesion of flux on the wetted job and reduce the dross formation.

The amount of flux-enhancer required in zinc ammonium chloride pre-flux tank is 1% to 2% of the flux.

Assay: Ammonium Chloride contains not less than 99.5 percent and not more than 100.5 percent of NH4Cl, calculated on the dried basis.

Identification: A solution (1 in 10) responds to the tests for Ammonium and for Chloride

pH: between 4.6 and 6.0, in a solution (1 in 20).

Loss on drying: Dry it over silica gel for 4 hours: it loses not more than 0.5% of its weight.

Residue on ignition: Add 1 mL of sulfuric acid to about 2 g, accurately weighed, and heat the mixture gently until volatilization is complete: the residue is white, and when ignited, not more than 0.1% of nonvolatile substance remains.

Limit of thiocyanate: Acidify 10 mL of a solution (1 in 10) with hydrochloric acid, and add a few drops of ferric chloride TS: no orange-red color is produced.

Heavy metals: 0.001%.

DEFINITION
Content or Assay: 99.0 per cent to 100.5 per cent (On dried substance basis).

CHARACTERS
Appearance: White or almost white, crystalline powder or colorless crystals. Solubility: Freely soluble in water.

IDENTIFICATION
A. It gives the reactions of chlorides.
B. 10 ml of solution gives the reaction of ammonium salts.

TESTS

Solution S
A 10% solution:

Appearance of solution: Solution is clear and colorless. Acidity or alkalinity: To 10 ml of solution S add 0.05 ml of methyl red solution. Not more than 0.5 ml of 0.01 M hydrochloric acid or 0.01 M sodium hydroxide is required to change the color of the indicator.

Bromides and iodides: To 10 ml of solution S add 0.1 ml of dilute hydrochloric acid R and 0.05 ml of chloramine solution. After 1 min, add 2 ml of chloroform R and shake vigorously. The chloroform layer remains colorless.

Sulphates: Maximum 150 ppm.

Calcium: Maximum 200 ppm.

Iron: Maximum 20 ppm.

Heavy metals: Maximum 10 ppm.

Loss on drying: Maximum 1.0 per cent, determined on 1.00 g by drying in an oven at 105 °C for 2 h.

Sulphated ash: Maximum 0.1 per cent, determined on 2.0 g.

DESCRIPTION Ammonium Chloride occurs as colorless crystals or as a white, fine or coarse, crystalline powder. It is somewhat hygroscopic. One gram dissolves in 2.6 mL of water at 25°, in 1.4 mL of boiling water, in about 100 mL of alcohol, and in about 8 mL of glycerin. The pH of a 1:20 solution is between 4.5 and 6.0.

REQUIREMENTS
Identification: A 1:10 aqueous solution gives positive tests for Ammonium and for Chloride. Assay: Not less than 99.0% of NH4Cl after drying. Lead: Not more than 4 mg/kg. Loss on Drying: Not more than 0.5%.

AMIPM is a proprietary Galvanizing Flux based on Zinc Ammonium Chloride. It is LOW COST formulation for reduced fuming and typically used for continuous galvanizing lines (or new flux charge in a batch process). AMIPM is the preferred multi-component, cost-effective formulation. Zinc Ammonium Chloride based Proprietary Galvanizing Flux is extensively used in continuous sheet galvanizing lines as it contains special additives that offer high luster to galvanized products without the typical Sulphide smell that other high luster fluxes bear. Our Galvanizing Flux optimum melting point cleans the sheet before it enters the zinc bath, ensuring strong and uniform adhesion.

AMILI Zinc Ammonium Chloride Galvanizing Flux is formulated for high speed, low fuming, negligible ash and most importantly thin, strong and uniform Zinc coats. Use of our proprietary additives ensures that the flux dries to a simple film, which protects and seals the fluxed steel. Due to the improved fluxing action and a thinner lighter film, the flux dries up faster. The dryer the article to be galvanized is, the quieter it enters the kettle, hence less zinc is splattered about.

The uniform film that is formed over the article to be galvanized due to our special additives, acts as a protective layer over the Iron, ensures that less iron is introduced into the kettle, reducing dross formation.
